A leading healthcare provider in Little Rock is seeking a Mental Health Security Officer to ensure the safety of patients and staff. The role involves crisis intervention, patient observation, and collaboration with healthcare teams. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and a high school diploma or GED. Specialized training in de-escalation techniques is required.
A Mental Health Security Officer (MHSO) receives specialized training in various clinical aspects of working with mentally ill patients. MHSOs provide safety and security to patients, healthcare workers, and the unit by responding to situations to de-escalate crises. They protect and maintain a secure environment by enforcing rules and regulations to ensure the safety of personnel, patients, visitors, and property. MHSOs intervene with physical methods if a patient acts out or presents danger to staff, patients, or property. They function as part of an interdisciplinary team to assess the functional abilities, impairments, and needs of each patient. High school diploma or GED required. Must complete the prescribed de-escalation training provided by Baptist Health, including all physical check-offs. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to learn and apply new healthcare-related skills, collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, and engage patients at appropriate levels for their wellness and cognition. Problem-solving skills and proactive anticipation of patient needs are essential. CPR, skills training, and de-escalation training are required.
This position is authorized for 80.00 hours bi-weekly.
