Job summary

Summit BHC is seeking a Registered Nurse for Palms Behavioral Health in Harlingen, Texas. This on-site role focuses on assessing patients, coordinating care, administering medications, and educating families while ensuring safety and adherence to policies.

The RN will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, monitor patient status, and contribute to admission/discharge processes. Prior behavioral health experience and an active Texas RN license are preferred for this role.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license in Texas or compact state.
• Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and coordinate patient care, develop and implement nursing plans.
• Monitor patient status and communicate findings to providers timely.
• Transcribe and review provider orders; ensure required elements are present.
• Administer medications with two identifiers and document accurately.
• Provide education to patients and families about medications and side effects.
• Maintain medication security, including narcotics, and complete handoffs.
