Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is hiring Registered Nurses to provide direct patient care in our behavioral health units. You will assess patients, educate families about conditions, and support recovery through therapy and safety interventions.

The role requires a current State RN license and BLS certification, with knowledge of mental health laws and an interdisciplinary treatment approach. You will document care, administer medications, and participate in patient education and discharge

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in behavioral health settings and educate patients and families.
• Record medical histories, assist with diagnostics and operate medical equipment.
• Administer treatments and medications and assist with follow-up and rehabilitation.
• Teach patients and families how to manage illness, diet, exercise, and self-administration of care.
