Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) - Full Time Day Shift

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) manages and coordinates nursing care activities during a client's hospitalization, following organizational policies and procedures. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, outcome establishment, implementation, and evaluation. The RN directs other personnel involved in client care and maintains professional accountability for all nursing care provided. Demonstrates competency in nursing judgment, awareness of healthcare economic barriers, and knowledge of nursing care needs across various clinical specialties.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide appropriate nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions.
  2. Assign tasks suitable to the skill level of team members.
  3. Implement physicians’ orders accurately and promptly.
  4. Prepare, administer, and record medications in accordance with policies.
  5. Record information concisely, accurately, and completely.
  6. Coordinate and provide emergency care as needed.
  7. Evaluate personnel performance and recommend appropriate actions.
  8. Adjust interventions based on age-specific guidelines.
  9. Set priorities to ensure safe client care, functioning in an organized and timely manner.
  10. Maintain a clean and safe environment, assisting with light housekeeping tasks as needed.
  11. Respect and uphold patients' rights, including confidentiality, privacy, safety, and security.
  12. Accept work assignments based on client care needs and skill level.
  13. Assist in developing and implementing unit goals.
  14. Conduct group therapies as assigned.
  15. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and revise care plans accordingly.
  16. Engage in process improvement activities.
  17. Provide age-specific care tailored to clients’ needs.
  18. Adhere to staffing and scheduling policies, including overtime use.
  19. Follow chain of command to resolve issues or problems.
  20. Monitor clients and document care according to risk levels.
  21. Maintain a safe environment by monitoring for contraband and hazards.
  22. Attend and contribute to departmental meetings.
  23. Precept and train other staff as assigned.
  24. Perform all other duties as assigned.
