The role you’ll contribute:

This specially trained nurse is responsible for participating in the surgical suite as a Circulator and assisting the surgeon during procedures. The RN Circulator has knowledge of instrumentation, sterile technique, and follows AORN guidelines to ensure the safety of the surgical patient. Responsibilities include planning, administering, and supervising nursing activities during perioperative and intraoperative care. The RN Circulator must adhere to the Adventist Health System Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards. The role may include assisting in other tasks as directed by the specialty coordinator, charge nurse, or manager of the CVOR. The RN may be assigned to the scrub role or as a second assistant depending on training and experience.

• Demonstrates effective assessment skills to ensure quality patient care.
• Performs and documents initial assessments, including observation, interpreting information related to patient needs, safety, discharge planning, psychosocial and cultural considerations, multi-system physical assessments, and patient/family education. Reports findings promptly to the physician.
• Monitors lab work for trends, reports abnormal results, and facilitates appropriate interventions.
• Utilizes clinical data to implement suitable interventions.
• Performs ongoing assessments reflecting patients’ physical and mental status across all age groups, according to standards and condition.
