Job summary

Hospital for Behavioral Medicine in Worcester, MA is seeking a full-time Recreational Therapist to join the interdisciplinary treatment team. You will plan and implement activity services, work toward treatment goals, and provide patient care, observation, and role modeling.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Recreation Therapy (Master’s preferred), and state/national licensure with CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Recreation Therapy or related field, or Master’s preferred.
• Certification or state/national licensure in occupational or recreation therapy is preferred.
• CPR certification required and PMAB training before restraining procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement activity services as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Observe and document changes in patients’ condition and progress toward treatment goals.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to Charge Nurse or Program Director.
• Provide psychosocial/leisure assessment and skills development planning.
• Document services and ensure interventions align with patient care plans.
• Apply crisis intervention techniques as required.
• Assist patients in achieving their optimal level of independent functioning.
