Job summary

Durham County Government seeks a clinician supervisor to oversee STARR staff and ensure high-quality mental health and substance use disorder services within the justice system. You will oversee staff, provide counseling, and coordinate with detention and medical teams to maintain continuity of care for detainees.

The role requires MS in a human services field, licensure or equivalent experience, and strong communication and organizational skills for both individual and group settings.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with one of the following: advanced degree in human services or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of experience in clinical substance abuse counseling and/or education; or two years with a master's degree; or nursing or other related psychiatric experience as specified.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; handles performance appraisals and scheduling.
• Provide professional counseling to detainees and participate in treatment planning.
• Coordinate with clinical and detention staff to ensure continuity of care and service delivery.
• Attend community meetings and jail coordination discussions on clinical issues.
• Provide on-call services and supervision to STARR staff.
