Behavioral Health Medical Director- General Child Psychiatrist

Behavioral Health Medical Director- Child Psychiatrist

Location: Alternate locations may be considered. This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). The ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of an Elevance Health Pulse Point location.

Schedule: Fulltime position, Monday through Friday. Open to part-time.

The Behavioral Health Medical Director- Child Psychiatrist is responsible for completing medical necessity reviews for general child psychiatry cases supporting commercial and Medicaid business lines.

How you will make an impact:

1. Conducts peer-to-peer clinical reviews with attending physicians or other providers to discuss review determinations, and patients' office visits with providers and external physicians.
2. Applies clinical knowledge and skills to utilization review processes.
3. Adheres to medical policies and clinical guidelines.
4. Engages in clinical and non-clinical activities that impact healthcare quality, cost, and outcomes, as assigned.
5. Provides guidance for clinical operational aspects of a program, if requested.
6. May serve on internal and/or external committees.
7. Develops and proposes new medical policies based on changes in healthcare.
8. Identifies and develops opportunities for innovation to increase effectiveness and quality.

Qualifications:

• MD or DO with Board certification approved by ABMS or AOA, where applicable.
• Active unrestricted medical license in California.
• Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, or equivalent education and experience. For Health Solutions and Carelon organizations, at least 5 years of healthcare provision experience.
• Willing to obtain a California medical license; Board Certified in Child & Adolescent psychiatry is strongly preferred.

Salary Range: $250,236 to $428,976, based on location and experience.
