As a Group Facilitator, you will play a crucial role in supporting clients on their path to recovery, working closely with licensed counselors and other healthcare professionals. Position Overview

As a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) at Attain Behavioral Health, you will play a vital role in helping individuals overcome substance abuse challenges and achieve lasting recovery. You will work closely with our team of professionals to provide support and assistance to clients, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for their rehabilitation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Client Support: Provide compassionate support to clients by actively participating in their treatment plans, including group therapy sessions and individual counseling.

Group Facilitation: Lead structured therapeutic, psychoeducational, recovery-focused, and skill-building groups. Encourage participation, maintain group structure, redirect inappropriate behaviors, and ensure sessions support treatment goals.

De-Escalation: Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques, active listening, redirection, grounding techniques, appropriate limit-setting, and calm communication when clients become upset, agitated, or emotionally dysregulated. Notify appropriate clinical or supervisory staff when additional intervention is needed.

Documentation: Complete accurate, timely, and professional documentation, including client participation, interventions utilized, client responses, progress, and significant concerns.

Education: Provide education regarding substance use disorders, mental health, coping skills, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and the recovery process.

Collaboration: Work closely with licensed counselors, therapists, and other team members to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.

Crisis Intervention: Recognize potential crisis or safety concerns, provide appropriate support within scope of practice, follow established crisis procedures, and immediately notify appropriate clinical or supervisory staff when necessary.

Professional Boundaries: Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries, confidentiality, respectful communication, and professional relationships with clients.

Advocacy: Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the legal and healthcare systems.

Ethical Standards: Adhere to professional and ethical standards, organizational policies, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and applicable state and federal requirements.

Group Facilitation: Lead and facilitate group therapy sessions and support groups for clients as part of their treatment plan. Create a safe and supportive environment for group members to share their experiences, provide peer support, and develop coping strategies. Ensure that group sessions align with treatment goals and objectives.

Client Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling and support to clients as part of their treatment plan. Address their specific needs, challenges, and progress in their journey to recovery. Collaborate with clients to set achievable goals and monitor their progress, ensuring that they receive the necessary guidance and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate group and individual services within scope of practice and under appropriate supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, structured, respectful, and recovery-focused group environment.
  • Utilize appropriate redirection and de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records and progress notes.
  • Communicate client behavioral, clinical, or safety concerns to the appropriate treatment team member.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to support coordinated client care.
  • Educate clients regarding substance use, mental health, coping skills, and recovery.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Valid Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certification in Ohio.
  • Qualified Mental Health Specialist III (QMHS III)
  • 3+ more years of mental health and substance abuse experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and group-management skills.
  • Knowledge of substance use and mental health treatment.
  • Ability to utilize de-escalation, redirection, and conflict-resolution techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and sound judgment.
  • Peer Recovery Supporter (PRS) preferred.
Certification
  • Valid CDCA certification from the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.
  • Qualified Mental Health Specialist III (QMHP III) (Preferred)
Experience

Previous experience in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting is preferred.
