Job summary

AdventHealth in Denver, CO is seeking a Behavioral Health Counselor to support patient emotional, spiritual, and psychological health. You will work with interdisciplinary teams to deliver care, facilitate counseling and psycho-educational groups, and document progress with accuracy.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Behavioral Health field and knowledge of DSM criteria and treatment planning. EAP experience is preferred for some roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health related field required.
• Competence with DSM diagnostic criteria and treatment planning.
• EAP knowledge and experience preferred for EAP program positions.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes influence of beliefs/cultures on behavior and communication barriers.
• Facilitates individual, group, and family counseling and psycho-educational groups.
• Works with interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement care.
• Assesses safety risks and responds to dangerous situations to protect clients.
• Maintains accurate, timely patient progress records.
• Educates patients and families about behavioral health options.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

• Recognizes the influence of beliefs and cultures on behaviors and identifies possible communication barriers.
• Facilitates individual, group, and family counseling as well as psycho-educational groups to promote patient emotional, spiritual, and psychological health.
• Works with interdisciplinary teams to formulate and implement patient care using insight, limit setting, support, goal setting, and other techniques.
• Evaluates for potential safety risks appropriately and responds to potentially dangerous situations to ensure patient safety in the least restrictive manner. Demonstrates working knowledge of the involuntary commitment process. Recognizes and reports suspected abuse/neglect in patients of all age groups according to guidelines.
• Develops, prepares, and maintains individualized patient progress records with accuracy and timeliness.
• Utilizes knowledge in the assessment of physical, psycho-social, environmental, spiritual, and financial factors to achieve healthcare goals.
• Educates patients and families about behavioral health conditions and treatment options.
• Other duties as assigned.
