Job summary

Florida Department of Children and Families seeks a Behavioral Health Consultant OPS to support regional operations by integrating behavioral health expertise with child welfare services. The role collaborates with CPIs and dependency case managers to enhance identification of behavioral health needs, facilitate engagement in treatment, and coordinate resources.

Requirements include a master’s degree in health or human services, three years of related experience, and a valid driver license;

Qualifications

• Knowledge of data collection and analysis methods.
• Ability to organize data for reports and presentations.
• Experience planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care approaches.
• Understanding of behavioral health conditions and parenting capacity.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners.
• Familiarity with substance use disorders within child welfare.

Responsibilities

• Educate CPIs and dependency case managers on behavioral health and opioid use.
• Assist field staff with field and office consultations during investigations.
• Collaborate with investigators to assess safety and parental capacities.
• Maintain knowledge of community behavioral health resources and providers.
• Track referrals and entry into treatment for families with substance use disorders.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and apply best practices.
