Job summary

Carolina Behavioral Care in Hillsborough, NC, part of the Optum family, invites you to join our team as a Medical Assistant. You will work with psychiatry staff, maintain patient records in our EHR, triage calls, and support front desk duties to keep our practice running smoothly.

The role requires CMA or RMA certification, a high school diploma, and experience with computer-based documentation. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, specimen collection, data entry, and helping with patient flow

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current CMA or RMA certification.
• Experience using computers for professional communication and medical documentation (Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS).
• Experience performing lab services (venipuncture, injections, drug screens, specimen collection).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive public relations image with peers, patients, and visitors by presenting a positive, helpful attitude.
• Gather data relevant to the patient's age group and individual needs.
• Obtain and record vital signs, weight, medication profile, allergies, chief complaint, signature/initials where appropriate before appointment.
• Perform lab services: venipuncture, injection administration, drug screen processing, and specimen collection.
• Receive and document telephone messages and record requests in the EHR system.
• Confirm scheduled appointments and follow up on missed appointments.
