Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 8am-4:30pm
Thursday 12pm-8:30pm

Job Description

The Behavioral Health Clinician is responsible for psychological and psychosocial assessments of mental health patients throughout the organization. Responsibilities include patient placements, referrals, interventions, and planning patient care. The clinician works in cooperation with the treatment team and provides services for patients ranging from childhood to late adulthood in the assigned treatment area.

Essential Functions
  1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  2. Performs comprehensive initial mental health/substance use assessments to facilitate care planning.
  3. Develops and initiates treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and psychiatrists, including admission, facility placement, or discharge planning.
  4. Utilizes evidence-based practices and tools for patient care.
  5. Communicates care plans and provides counseling tailored to patient and family needs.
  6. Shares insights on family dynamics and social, environmental, psychological, and cultural factors with the healthcare team to facilitate timely discharges.
  7. Identifies socio-economic needs and instructs patients/families on available community resources and entitlement programs.
  8. Performs other duties as needed, complying with hospital policies and procedures.
Required Competencies
  • Care Coordination: Knowledge of multidisciplinary treatments and integration for optimal care.
  • Planning and Organizing: Efficient management of time and resources.
  • Healthcare Regulatory Environment: Understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Behavioral Therapy Management: Knowledge of behavioral techniques and management of diverse mental disorders.
  • Patient Rights: Principles and practices related to patient and caregiver responsibilities.
  • Psychological Counseling: Ability to conduct counseling sessions and design counseling processes.
  • Behavioral Health Operations Management: Ability to oversee departmental operations and policies.
Education and Experience

Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related human service field with at least 3 years of experience in mental health or substance abuse treatment.

Certifications and Licenses

LCSW, LPC, LCADC, CPR certification required.

Additional Requirements

Ability to perform mental health exams, psychiatric history documentation, crisis intervention, and possess strong communication and counseling skills. Working knowledge of DSM IV and ASAM.

Work Shift

Rotating shifts in the United States.
