Job summary

RHA Health Services, LLC is hiring a Behavioral Health Certified Peer Support Specialist for weekend shifts in North Carolina. The role focuses on recovery-oriented, community-based supports for individuals with mental health or substance use challenges, promoting self-determination and empowerment.

Responsibilities include leading peer groups, connecting clients to resources, and modeling coping strategies.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in NC or PA.
• 1 year of experience with behavioral health is preferred.
• Valid driver's license, auto insurance and reliable transportation.
• Pre-employment screenings including background checks and credentialing as required.
• Proof of driver's license, insurance and vehicle if driving for work.

Responsibilities

• Model effective coping and self-help techniques with individuals.
• Provide empowerment skills and support for recovery living.
• Assist individuals in finding resources and following through with resolutions.
• Lead peer support groups with individuals served.
• Support daily decision making and resolution of minor problems.

Job description

We are hiring for: Behavioral Health Certified Peer Support Specialist - Weekends Type: Regular If you are a positive and personable individual looking for a satisfying and fun opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and people facing mental health, and substance use challenges, join our team at RHA Health Services! Provides highly individualized services in the community and promotes individual self-determination and decision-making to individuals with Mental Health or Substance Abuse issues. Certified Peer Support Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultation to the entire team to promote a culture in which each individual's point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. This position may serve as an advocate for the person supported. Performs a wide range of tasks to assist the people supported in regaining control over their own recovery processes. These interventions are strength-based and focused on promoting recovery, symptom reduction, increased coping skills, and achievement of the highest level of functioning in the community. Functions as a role model of competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills.

Program Responsibilities

• Modeling effective coping and self-help techniques to individuals

• Assisting individuals in finding resources, advising of processes, and encouraging follow through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or provide other assistance as needed
• Leading peer support groups with individuals served
• Supporting/assisting individuals in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems
• Facilitating social opportunities in the community
• Fostering development of healthy relationships by encouraging participation in community activities
• Sharing personal story of recovery and resilience to instill hope

Schedule

Friday - Sunday 8pm-8am

Position Requirements

• Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist in NC or PA
• 1 year experience working with individuals with behavioral health issues preferred
• Valid driver's license, auto insurance and reliable transportation
• Pre-employment screening: Complete criminal background Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities) Drug testing Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements. Proof of employment history or references (if required) Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
