NOW HIRING!! A-Line is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Manager – Behavioral Health to join our team. This remote position focuses on the coordination and oversight of mental health and substance abuse treatment services to ensure medical necessity, effectiveness, and high-quality care for our members.

Job Title: Care Manager – Behavioral Health
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Start time 8:00 or 8:30 AM | End time 4:40 or 5:00 PM
Location: Remote (California only)

As a Care Manager, you will play a vital role in clinical assessments, treatment planning, discharge coordination, and the facilitation of access to behavioral health services. You’ll be an essential part of a team focused on improving outcomes for individuals facing behavioral health challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inpatient and/or outpatient behavioral health services to ensure clinical necessity and effectiveness.

  • Conduct concurrent reviews and authorize services within scope of practice and licensure.

  • Provide crisis intervention, telephone triage, and emergency authorizations as assigned.

  • Collaborate with treatment providers and facilities to develop and implement discharge plans.

  • Educate members and providers on mental health benefits, treatment resources, and company policies.

  • Propose alternative care plans when services requested do not meet medical necessity criteria.

  • Work with Physician Advisors on complex cases and authorization questions.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives including data tracking and reporting.

  • Support network development by identifying and recruiting qualified providers.

  • Advocate for member needs while maintaining respectful, solution-oriented interactions with providers.

  • Maintain caseload in accordance with performance standards.

Qualifications

Licensure (Required – must be current and active in California):
One or more of the following:

  • CEAP – Certified Employee Assistance Professional

  • LMSW – Licensed Master Social Worker

  • LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker

  • LPC – Licensed Professional Counselor

  • LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

  • RN – Registered Nurse (Compact State Licensure accepted)

Education:

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (for RN)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field (as required by licensure)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years post-degree clinical experience in behavioral health, psychiatric care, or substance abuse treatment

  • Knowledge of DSM-V and current diagnostic standards

  • Familiarity with utilization management processes and community behavioral health resources

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
