Job summary

Optum seeks a Behavioral Health Care Manager to support members with complex needs, guiding treatment and connecting them with community resources. This fully remote role requires permanent residency in Arizona and an active AZ license.

You will assess members, educate on services, and coordinate with providers and care teams, ensuring evidence-based, medically necessary care. You will participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to improved community tenure.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field; Doctorate in psychology acceptable.
  • Active, unrestricted Arizona license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC or LP.
  • 2+ years of experience in a mental health environment.
  • 1+ years of experience coordinating with Arizona community resources.

Responsibilities

  • Engage members transitioning through levels of behavioral health care.
  • Complete member assessments and educate on resources and services.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with providers and treatment teams.
  • Strategize and resolve barriers to care.
  • Identify ways to add value to treatment plans and consult with staff.
  • Work from an Integrated Care Management Model to ensure high-risk members receive evidence-based care.
  • Join weekly Interdisciplinary Team Rounds to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Job description

Behavioral Health Care Managers work with complex and high-risk needs with a goal of engaging the member in the treatment process, decreasing their reliance on higher levels of care, helping them access appropriate community services, and improving their community tenure. You will coordinate and collaborate with their families and care teams to help our members live their lives to the fullest.

This fully remote position requires permanent residency and independent clinical licensure in Arizona.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Engage members that may be transitioning through various levels of behavioral health care
  • Complete member assessments and educate on resources and services available to members
  • Coordinate and collaborate with providers and treatment teams
  • Strategize and solution for any barriers preventing care or delaying services
  • Identify ways to add value to treatment plans and consult with facility staff or outpatient care providers on those ideas
  • Work from an Integrated Care Management Model to ensure high-risk members receive evidenced-based care and medically necessary services
  • Join weekly Interdisciplinary Team Rounds to collaborate with cross-functional teams on high-risk members
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy; or Doctorate-degreed Psychologist
  • Active, unrestricted Arizona license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC or LP
  • 2+ years of experience in a related mental health environment
  • 1+ years of experience working with local and state community resources in Arizona
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with community behavioral health agencies and/or inpatient facilities
  • Dual diagnosis experience with mental health and substance abuse
  • Experience working at a managed care organization (MCO) or health insurance company
  • Experience working in an environment that required coordination of benefits and utilization of multiple groups and resources for patients
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance benefits, including Medicaid and Medicare
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Arizona's Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD)
