Job summary

Acadia Healthcare seeks a Behavioral Health Aide (BHA1) to support patients with daily living activities, safety checks, and treatment goals in our Tennessee facility. The role emphasizes patient safety, documentation, and teamwork with nurses and therapists.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent with CPR/de-escalation training; six months of related experience preferred, and prior work with the target population is a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months experience as a BHA1 preferred.
  • Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to patient safety and providing excellent customer services.
  • Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive and structured environment.
  • Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision intervals are followed.
  • Document timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in patient's medical record.
  • Assist in providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Monitor patient safety through rounds and maintain clean, orderly rooms.
  • Obtain patient vitals, height and weight as assigned and document in patient record.
  • Engage with patients to support treatment goals and activities.
  • Respond to distressed patients calmly and address sources of distress.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and assist with seclusion/restraint when necessary.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to support independence and coping strategies.
  • Monitor behavior changes and report to the nurse or team.
  • Reinforce skills taught by nurses, physicians and therapists.
  • Assist with activities of daily living and transportation as needed.
  • Support admissions and discharges when required.
  • Lead or co-lead individual or group sessions in recreational or therapeutic activities.
  • Participate in rehabilitation and treatment programs and teach wellness strategies.
  • Ensure timely documentation and maintain professional standards.
