Job summary

Carolina Dunes Behavioral Health in Leland, North Carolina, seeks a Behavioral Health Associate I to support a multidisciplinary treatment team. You will monitor patient behaviors, deliver continuous care, and assist in data collection under licensed nurse supervision.

The role includes medication-related safety, patient interactions, and participation in group activities to reinforce treatment goals within an onsite facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience with the specific population preferred.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and various treatment modalities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, supportive environment under supervision.
• Assist with activities of daily living (toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, hydration).
• Conduct safety checks and supervise per guidelines.
• Check patients for contraband and manage belongings.
• Interact with patients and communicate observations to the supervisor.
• Engage patients in activities to achieve treatment goals.
• Facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups on social and coping skills.
• Take and record vital signs and report significant changes to the clinical team.
• Chart in patient records timely and accurately.
• Apply de-escalation techniques and assist with restraints when necessary.
• Assist with unit cleaning, admits/discharges, filing, and incident reporting.
• Coordinate transportation or transfer of patients as needed.
• Receive shift reports and provide thorough handoff to the oncoming shift.
