Job summary

CenterPointe Hospital of Columbia is seeking a Behavioral Health Associate to provide compassionate, patient-centered care under supervision. You will support daily living activities, monitor safety, document clinical information, and contribute to a structured therapeutic environment.

You will engage with patients, assist with groups and activities, report observations to nursing staff, and help ensure a secure, respectful setting while prioritizing patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience working with the specific population of the facility preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate urgency related to patient safety and provide excellent customer services.
• Ensure well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive environment.
• Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision intervals as needed.
• Document timely, accurate clinical information in patient records.
• Assist in providing a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients, families and staff.
• Interact with patients, observe behaviors and communicate observations to nursing staff.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed.
• Obtain vital signs, height and weight and document results.
• Facilitate patient educational and rehabilitative groups on topics like social skills and coping strategies.
• Engage patients in activities to achieve treatment goals.
• Complete and maintain required documentation and assist with follow-up and paperwork on incidents.
• May coordinate patient transportation.
