Job summary

Hillcrest Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Behavioral Health Aide (CNA) in Massachusetts to support residents on the behavioral unit. You will promote a structured environment, assist with daily living activities, and provide therapeutic programming under supervision.

Qualifications include current CNA certification and MA eligibility; one year in Behavioral Health/Long Term Care is preferred. Weekend/evening shift differentials and per diem positions are available.

Qualifications

• CNA certification is required.
• 1 year experience in Behavioral Health/Long Term Care is preferred.
• GED or higher or high school diploma is required.
• Must complete CNA program and obtain certification within 120 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly structured environment for residents daily.
• Provide behavioral support and therapeutic programming.
• Chart activity logs and monitor resident behavior.
• Provide personal care to residents as needed (toileting, feeding, positioning).
• Maintain safety standards at all times.
• Instruct and counsel residents on positive behavioral aspects.
• Maintain and manage a clean and safe environment.

Under the direction of the Program Director/Assistant, the Behavioral Health Aide provides support to all residents on the behavioral unit. The Behavioral Aide helps to promote a highly structured environment for residents daily, with the goal of improving the individual’s behavior/quality of life.

As a Behavioral Health Aide, you will:

• Be expected to maintain a current and valid CNA Certification in Massachusetts
• Work with residents having various mental health needs and/or aggressive behaviors
• Assist on the unit and provide behavioral support when needed.
• Provide therapeutic programming (running group activities etc)
• Chart activity logs
• Monitor hallways and provide redirection to residents if needed.
• Act as a role model for residents (pro-social behavior, group participation)
• Maintain safety standards for residents at all times.
• Monitor, record and document observations of resident’s behavior.
• Provide personal care to residents if needed (I.e. toileting, feeding, positioning)
• Instruct and counsel residents on positive behavioral aspects.
• Maintain and manage clean and safe environment for residents.

Pay Rate: $20 - $24 per hour

Weekend and Evening shift differentials available

Current CNA Certification Required

Must complete CNA program and obtain certification within 120 days of hire through facility funded classes
