Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility in Long Beach, CA is seeking an Intake Coordinator to ensure a welcoming admissions process for psychiatric care. You will gather health information, verify insurance, coordinate admissions, and support clinical teams with accurate documentation.

The role requires calm, empathetic communication, attention to detail, and collaboration across departments. Evening and night shift coverage is available, with comprehensive onboarding and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or hospital setting.
• Ability to stay calm and effective in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across disciplines.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collect health information and conduct pre-admission assessments.
• Coordinate patient transportation for safe transitions.
• Handle triage calls and phone assessments.
• Verify insurance coverage and basic billing computations.
• Collect medical and psychiatric documentation for review.
• Communicate patient status and admissions to clinical teams.
• Notify departments of patient admissions (Nursing, Social Work, Outpatient).
• Document all phone calls and relay messages.
• Enter patient data into the EHR system and admit/discharge patients.
• Fax daily census reports regarding bed/capacity to local facilities.
• Collaborate with outreach on referrals, admissions, bed availability, and status.
• Comply with Patients' Rights, LPS Statutes, and Seclusion/Restraint protocols.
