Responsibilities

Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital has been providing psychiatric services to the Philadelphia area for more than 40 years. Located in Fort Washington, PA, our 146-bed facility offers a peaceful setting for those seeking treatment for mental illness. We provide unique and individualized programming for adolescents and adults, supported by a seasoned nursing leadership team.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Assessment and Referral, the Call Specialist manages admission functions, provides crisis intervention to potential patients by gathering telephonic information and scheduling assessments, collects and inputs data into Med Series 4, and assists in coordinating residential admissions.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree in human services fields such as psychology, sociology, counseling, criminal justice, or related areas. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with at least two years of direct contact experience in a human services setting is acceptable.

Additional requirements include successful completion of credentialing, CPR/AED certification, Crisis Prevention Training, and good communication skills. Overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Complete admission paperwork following policy, HIPAA, and Joint Commission guidelines.
  2. Arrange admissions, collect pre-admission data, and verify insurance coverage.
  3. Enter required data into the Health Management System, prepare patient face sheets, and document admissions accurately.
  4. Orient patients and families to admission procedures and rights, and answer questions about services.
  5. Consult with clinical staff to ensure admission standards are met.
  6. Handle inquiry contacts, provide information, and schedule evaluations or conduct them when appropriate.
  7. Maintain accurate inquiry and follow-up records.
  8. Gather and analyze patient and referral source information.
  9. Make decisions logically using available resources.
  10. Compile and report admission and inquiry data.
  11. Assess age-specific information and knowledge of patient rights, laws, and emergency procedures.
  12. Understand seclusion, restraint, and behavioral deviations across age groups.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by hospital administration to ensure effective operations.
