Ohio Department of Behavioral Health seeks an Activities Aide for the Treatment Mall at Heartland Behavioral Healthcare in Massillon, OH. The role involves supervising patient activities, assisting program providers, and ensuring safe, organized leisure time within a unionized environment.

Work hours are Sunday-Thursday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with a pay range described under OCSEA/AFSCME guidelines. Official transcripts are required for advancement and background review processes are in place.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Primary work area is the Treatment Mall with some work on units.
• Observes and monitors activities of patients during leisure, program time, and during visitation with patients and their significant others.
• Assists higher-level group program providers in implementation of their programs.
• Escorts patients to and from activities or to their units; maintains patient attendance for general activities and/or leisure times.
• Tracks Level II’s while in the treatment mall and reports safety observations.
• Communicates patient status to unit staff and attends staff meetings for input on participation and observations.
