Gracious Services Inc. creates custom day and support service programs for children, teens, and adults with behavioral or intellectual/developmental disabilities throughout Union, Somerset, Essex, and Middlesex counties in New Jersey. We offer a range of services including day habilitation programs, weekend care, transportation, various classes and tutoring, sports, respite care, camps, and recreational outings. Our team is passionate about providing these services, and our clients appreciate the care they receive.

Role Description

The Behavioral Assistant (BA) provides individualized behavioral support services to youth with emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges within the home and community setting. Working under the supervision of a licensed IIC clinician, the BA implements interventions and strategies aligned with the youth’s individualized service plan (ISP), aiming to reduce problematic behaviors, build skills, and improve functioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement behavior intervention plans developed by the IIC Clinician.
  • Provide one-on-one support to youth in their home, school, or community settings.
  • Model and teach coping, social, and adaptive skills to youth and caregivers.
  • Track and document client progress, behavioral incidents, and session notes.
  • Collaborate with the IIC Clinician and care management team (CMO/MO).
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and supervision sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable ethical and legal standards.
  • Engage youth and families in culturally sensitive, strength-based interventions.
  • Support crisis de‑escalation and reinforce positive behavioral strategies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with youth with behavioral or emotional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must be reliable, flexible, and capable of working independently.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends, as services are scheduled based on family availability.
  • Must pass background checks and clearances as required by state regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
  • Support crisis de‑escalation and reinforce positive behavioral strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with in‑home/community‑based services.
  • Training in crisis intervention or behavioral management (e.g., CPI, ABA) is an advantage.
Working Conditions
  • Travel to client homes and community settings required.
  • Flexible scheduling depends on client needs.
