Behavior Therapist

Do you want to make a difference in a child's life? Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to spend your time? You want to work with children facing learning and behavioral challenges? Working for a non-profit agency is important to you? If so, we want you on our Faces therapy team.

PACE (Pacific Autism Center for Education) is looking for entry-level or experienced behavior therapists for our Faces program, which provides 1:1 ABA behavioral therapy to children 18 months and older, primarily at our clinic and/or limited times in the child's home. Under the direction of a Clinical Supervisor (BCBA), Behavior Therapists use the science of Applied Behavior Analysis to work on social, communication, and play skills, as well as behavior management with children.

Work schedule: part-time or full-time Mon-Fri. Minimum 3 days per week of availability, afternoons preferred.

Salary: $23-26/hour; $25/hour for current RBTs after verification. Lesser rate until RBT.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a BCBA, you will:

• Deliver 1:1 ABA therapy sessions to children, focusing on social, communication, play, and behavior management skills.
• Document treatment sessions accurately and comprehensively.
• Collect numeric data and implement written treatment directions.
• Participate in training competencies and receive supervision hours as required.
• Assist with toileting for the child when trained.
• Support parents and other staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum high school diploma or GED; associate degree or one-to-two years of related experience or B.A. preferred in psychology, behavior, or child development.
• Certifications: RBT or BCaBA preferred.
• Experience: Experience with children with challenging behaviors and developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills; playful, creative, energetic, enthusiastic; strong writing skills for documentation.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to read and implement written directions and collect numeric data.
• Technical Skills: Complete training competencies and obtain required supervision hours.
• Medical: Clear physical health and TB test prior to employment and routinely during employment as required.
• Clearance: Maintain DOJ and FBI clearance prior to and during employment.
• Driver: Preferred: valid California driver’s license, good driving record, proof of insurance, and access to a vehicle for travel up to 10 miles.
• Willing to assist with toileting for the child or be trained to do so.
• Physical: Able to lift 30 lbs. with assistance; ability to bend, squat, reach over shoulders and head, kneel, sit, walk quickly on normal or uneven surfaces, and stand. May require typing or computer use.

Requirements

• Have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED; preferably an associate or bachelor’s degree.
• Avail afternoons, Monday-Friday; at least 3 days per week.
• Pass DOJ and FBI fingerprinting and maintain physical and TB test before first day.
• Willfully assist with toileting and meet physical requirements.
