Job summary

Achievement Behavior Servies in New Jersey is seeking a part-time Behavior Technician to work one-on-one with children in their home environment under direct BCBA supervision, following individualized treatment plans.

You will implement ABA techniques including discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, and reinforcement, while measuring progress, maintaining behavior data, and documenting sessions.

Qualifications

  • Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, special education, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology are relevant study areas.
  • Active RBT certificate preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with stakeholders.
  • Experience with pre-school and elementary children.
  • Experience documenting progress notes and data aligned with treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in rapport building and help students communicate needs.
  • Document progress and data points on the Behavior Intervention Plan.
  • Deliver 1:1 ABA-based sessions in home with prompting and modeling.
  • Maintain thorough session documentation and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with BCBA supervisor(s) and team.
  • Communicate with clients, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers.

About Achievement Behavior Servies (ABS):

We are an agency that was founded ten years ago, in 2015, by the joint efforts of dedicated BCBAs and LCSWs. We have a successful history of supporting children with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families with direct, in-home/in-community ABA therapeutic services. Our approach uses the principles and practices of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to mentor and support these children towards increasing their communication, adaptability, resilience, and independence.

  • In the role of a Behavior Technician, you will work directly, one-on-one, with the child in their natural, home environment. You will be supported by a lead, board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) while you move through the individualized Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) that was scribed to help the student experience increased success in communication, focus, and positively adapting behaviors.

Daily Expectations of a Behavior Technician:
  • Engaging rapport building and curiosity to find creative solutions to help a student more effectively communicate their needs, wants, and feelings

  • Measure, assess, and document skill acquisition of student's progress on the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

  • 1:1 Goal-oriented, in home, direct service work with a student involving implementation of ABA approaches including but not limited to discrete trial teaching, prompting, modeling, redirection, reinforcements, and reward-systems.

  • Thorough and comprehensive session-to-session documentation, data analysis, and billing.

  • Actively engaging with clinical direction and professional feedback from BCBA supervisor(s)

  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients or students, caregivers, supervisors, and coworkers

The Qualifications:
  • Most Relevant Areas of Study: Applied Behavior Analysis, psychology, Special education, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology

  • Preferred: Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board

  • Strong and multi-tiered stakeholder communication skills required

  • Adaptability and decisiveness under high-stress situations

  • Exhibits professional administrative reliability: punctuality and responsiveness

  • Proven experience working with pre-school and elementary school-aged children

  • Additional evidence of successful work with patients suffering from Autism and development issues

  • Other experience, certificates, or qualifications as required by NY State.

  • Intuitive, engaging, compassionate, and person-centered approaches

  • Proven experience with documenting progress notes and data points aligning with individualized treatment plans and goals

  • Structured and creative play skills
