BY YOUR SIDE Autism Therapy Services is seeking a Behavior Technician to deliver ABA therapy to children and young adults in center and home environments. You will implement skill acquisition programs and behaviour management under supervision and collect data on target behaviours during sessions.

Role requires flexible hours including evenings/weekends, travel between environments, and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality care for clients and families.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; bachelor's preferred.
• Interest in autism and ABA therapy.
• Ability to travel to centers, homes, and community settings.

General Summary

The BY YOUR SIDE Behavior Technician directs ABA Therapy to children ages 2-21 years old in the center and in-home environments. The Behavior Technician will implement skill acquisition programs and behaviour management protocols under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.

The Behaviour Technician will also be responsible for collecting data on target behaviours during sessions. The Behaviour Technician is also responsible for providing comprehensive ABA Therapy for BY YOUR SIDE clients under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.

The Behaviour Technician is responsible for defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, can read, analyse and respond to inquiries or complaints from clients/families and effectively presents information to the BCBAs.

This position's hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Evening, weekend work and/or overtime may be required, as needed. Implementation of treatment plans across multiple environments including centre, home and community. Travel may be required.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for enforcing standards for ABA Therapy to maintain BY YOUR SIDE's high quality of care for clients and families.

• Provide direct 1:1 or small group therapy to children and young adults with autism consistent with the treatment plan under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.
• Maintain targeted caseload hours of therapy per week.
• Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
• Implement treatment plans across multiple domains, including communication, social behaviour, learner readiness skills, self-care, replacement behaviour and behaviour reduction as instructed by the Clinical Supervisor.
• Passionately motivates clients by adapting activities to their preferences.
• Calmly respond intentionally and in alignment with the client Behaviour Intervention Plan to challenging behaviour.
• Assist with assessments, under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, when they have assured proper training and administration of such assessment tools (i.e., VBMAPP, ABLLS).
• Assist with maintaining order and safety among the clients in the therapy environment.
• Assist other personnel with related tasks as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in completion of their work activities and for the enhancement of daily operations of the therapy centre. Provide session coverage for clients (One Time Move) as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and collaborate with a team of multi-disciplinary therapists to coordinate, communicate relevant information, and implement high quality therapy.
• Participate in training provided to increase professional knowledge by attending in person, through video conferencing, and/or watching the recorded training(s).
• Completion of all assignments related to staff meetings and training (e.g., ABA meetings) by due date, including make-up assignments.
• Completion of daily activities/routines within the centre (i.e., opening/closing procedures, cleaning, organisation and creation of session materials, assisting other therapists, etc.).
• Collect and maintain accurate records of client performance through data collection and insurance notes on an online data collection platform. Ensure billing for all appointments through online platform session conversion within a specified period.
• Implementation of treatment plans across multiple environments including centres, homes, and communities. Travel to the home and community may be required.
• Toilet training and diaper changing may be required.
• To perform thisjob successfully, an individualmust be able to performeach essential duty satisfactorily.
• Uphold and maintain BYS core principles, policies, and procedures.

Include Demonstrated Competencies And Physical, Mental, & Interpersonal Skills

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree and/or enrolled in psychology, communication disorders, education or relatedfield preferred.
• High interest and willingness to learn about, understand and work with children diagnosed withAutism Spectrum Disorder.
• Eagerness to learn about Applied Behavior Analysis and grow as a Behaviour Technician.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
• Knowledge of sensory and behavioural strategies, preferred.
• Ability to communicate proactively, timely, effectively and professionally with a variety of stakeholder types (clients, parents, Operations Team members, Behaviour Analysts, Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists).
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with changing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise, execute on deadlines and produce high quality deliverables with attention to details.
• Ability to exude professionalism through communication, timeliness and preparedness.
• Proficiency in applications, games and web-based technology via an iPad and Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel and Outlook.

Environmental Conditions/ Physical Requirements

• Reliable transportation is required for travel to and from work and between therapy environments.
• May regularly lift, pull, push, and /or move 10-25 pounds, and may frequently lift pull, push, and /or move up to 50 pounds.
• Physical ability to move quickly, kneel, bend, squat, crouch, twist, walk, sit, stand and reach for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to respond quickly, which may include transitioning from a seated position to standing in case of client elopement or emergency.
• Must be able to assess and navigate factors that may impact safety and security.
• This position's hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Evening, weekend work and/or overtime may be required, as needed.
• This position requires prolonged periods of computer use and extended screen time throughout the workday.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and perform in an environment with elevated noise levels.
