Overview

The BY YOUR SIDE Behavior Technician directs ABA Therapy to children ages 2-21 years old in the center and in-home environments. The Behavior Technician will implement skill acquisition programs and behavior management protocols under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor.

The BY YOUR SIDE Behavior Technician will also be responsible for collecting data on target behaviors during sessions and for providing comprehensive ABA Therapy for BY YOUR SIDE clients under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor. The Behavior Technician is also responsible for defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions, read, analyze and respond to inquiries or complaints from clients/families and effectively present information to the BCBAs. This position’s hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Evening, weekend work and/or overtime may be required. Implementation of treatment plans across multiple environments including center, home and community. Travel may be required. Starting pay: $22/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct 1:1 or small group therapy to children and young adults with autism consistent with the treatment plan under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Maintain targeted caseload hours of therapy per week.
  • Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Implement treatment plans across multiple domains, including communication, social behavior, learner readiness skills, self-care, replacement behavior and behavior reduction as instructed by the Clinical Supervisor.
  • Passionately motivates clients by adapting activities to their preferences.
  • Calmly respond to challenging behavior in alignment with the client’s Behavior Intervention Plan.
  • Assist with assessments, under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, when properly trained and with administration of such assessment tools (e.g., VBMAPP, ABLLS).
  • Assist with maintaining order and safety among clients in the therapy environment.
  • Assist other personnel with related tasks as needed to support daily operations of the therapy center; provide session coverage for clients as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with a team of multi-disciplinary therapists to coordinate, communicate relevant information, and implement high quality therapy.
  • Participate in training to increase professional knowledge (in person, via video conferencing, or via recorded training).
  • Complete all assignments related to staff meetings and training by the due date, including make-up assignments.
  • Complete daily activities/routines within the center (opening/closing procedures, cleaning, organization and creation of session materials, assisting other therapists, etc.).
  • Collect and maintain accurate records of client performance through data collection and insurance notes on an online data collection platform. Ensure billing for all appointments through the online platform within a specified period.
  • Implement treatment plans across centers, homes, and communities. Travel to the home and community may be required.
  • Toilet training and diaper changing may be required.
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Uphold and maintain BY YOUR SIDE core principles, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or enrolled in psychology, communication disorders, education or related field preferred.
  • High interest and willingness to learn about, understand and work with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Eagerness to learn about Applied Behavior Analysis and grow as a Behavior Technician.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
  • Knowledge of sensory and behavioral strategies, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate proactively, timely, effectively and professionally with a variety of stakeholder types (clients, parents, Operations Team members, Behavior Analysts, Speech Therapists and Occupational Therapists).
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, execute on deadlines and produce high quality deliverables with attention to details.
  • Ability to exude professionalism through communication, timeliness and preparedness.
  • Proficiency in applications, games and web-based technology via an iPad and Microsoft Office Products, Word, Excel and Outlook.
Environmental Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Reliable transportation is required for travel to and from work and between therapy environments.
  • May regularly lift, pull, push, and/or move 10-25 pounds, and may frequently lift, pull, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical ability to move quickly, kneel, bend, squat, crouch, twist, walk, sit, stand and reach for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to respond quickly, including transitioning from a seated position to standing in case of client elopement or emergency.
  • Must be able to assess and navigate factors that may impact safety and security.
  • This position’s hours of work and days vary based on the needs of clients/business. Evening, weekend work and/or overtime may be required.
  • This position requires prolonged periods of computer use and extended screen time throughout the workday.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear in an environment with elevated noise levels.
