Position Summary:

The Registered Behavior Technician, under the direct supervision of the Behavior Analyst, assists in developing and implementing behavior intervention programs for clients with challenging behavioral needs. Responsibilities include collecting data on behavior, documenting progress, and collaborating with BCBA, families, and staff to coach and implement behavior interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs under the ongoing supervision of a BCBA.
  2. Implement strategies to teach skill acquisition and alternative replacement behaviors.
  3. Read and identify essential components of a written Behavior Intervention Plan and Behavioral Assessments/goals related to behavioral needs.
  4. Assist family members in implementing reactive procedures for maladaptive behaviors.
  5. Communicate effectively with team members and work collaboratively.
  6. Assist BCBA with observations and data collection for assessments.
  7. Collect and monitor ongoing behavior data and samples.
  8. Travel to multiple sites as necessary.
  9. Assist in developing reinforcement identification procedures.
  10. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the BCBA.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and experience in developing and evaluating ABA programs.
  • Behavior analytic procedures as outlined in the RBT task list.
  • Characteristics of maladaptive behaviors associated with ASD and developmental disabilities.

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Understand client needs and relate effectively in learning situations.
  • Maintain accurate records and develop comprehensive reports in line with guidelines.
  • Ensure confidentiality of records and information.
  • Display patience and courtesy with clients and families.
  • Show cultural sensitivity and competence.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Establish effective work relationships.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs., or up to 100 lbs. with assistance; carry objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Maintain physical, mental, and emotional stamina under stress.
  • Make sound judgment calls in emergencies.
  • Receive feedback constructively.
  • Proficiently use company software like Central Reach, Teams, ZOOM, etc.

Requirements:

  • Maintain BACB certification as RBT or BCBA.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Related Trainings:

Complete and maintain required certifications such as CPR, Safety Care, Fingerprinting & Background Checks, RBT training, and other in-services.
