Job Description
In accordance with the needs of the populations served by ABA Support Services LLC, the Behavioral Health Technician/Direct Therapist will organize data collection and analysis systems, assist with behavioral assessments and program implementation, support clinical activities and staff/parent training, and temporarily assume lead behavior therapist duties.
Note: Critical features are described below but are subject to change at the discretion of ABA Support Services and the Management Team. This description outlines essential functions but is not exhaustive of all duties.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Collect and record data on observable client behavior.
- Assist lead therapist with maintaining graphs, summarizing, and calculating data.
- Write progress notes, update programs, create session materials, and maintain program books.
- Participate actively in baseline, treatment, parent training, and generalization sessions.
- Prepare and clean up session-related activities (e.g., client room, equipment).
- Assist with protocol dissemination, reviews, and staff/parent training.
- Use safe handling and guidance procedures when working with clients.
- Provide direct client care following behavioral protocols, in one-on-one or group settings.
- Temporarily assume lead therapist responsibilities in their absence.
- Shadow or treat for 2-4 hours weekly.
- Report parent concerns to the lead therapist.
- Report suspected child abuse within 24 hours to ChildLine.
Requirements
- Own transportation required; provide proof of registration and insurance.
- Check email daily.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to assume various postures for extended periods.
- Ability to follow clients quickly and pivot positions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport clients and equipment.
- Follow detailed oral instructions and communicate effectively.
- Visual acuity for work accuracy.
- Manual dexterity for keyboard use.
- Ability to travel between locations.
- Supervision of at least 5% of billable hours weekly.
- Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.
Reporting Relationships
- Report to the Supervising Behavior Analyst, HR, and Office Manager as appropriate.
- No direct personnel supervision required.
Qualifications
- Experience in reputable clinics, homes, or schools preferred.
- Minimum 1-year experience with children with Autism.
- Willingness to learn behavioral and early learning principles.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams, with flexibility and patience.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credits or degrees in related fields highly desirable.
Experience and Training
- Experience with children with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Maintain current certifications (CPR, seizure management, child abuse reporting, crisis management, RBT).
- Complete IBHS and BACB RBT certification within specified timelines.
- Basic computer literacy required.
