Description
Behavior Technician Role and Responsibilities:
- Assist rehab staff in the implementation of behavior protocols developed by the BCBA.
- Assist in novel data collection, making observations, and documenting client behaviors and trends.
- Provide relevant corrective reinforcement and praise for both clients and staff as appropriate. Feedback for staff would be specifically related to their implementation of Behavior Protocols.
- Model appropriate, professional, and compassionate behavior for both staff and clients.
- Be involved in increasing staff engagement with clients. Assist management with:
- Ensuring client engagement schedules are followed, including therapy attendance.
- Conduct daily observations on engagement and provide immediate feedback/praise when necessary.
- Teach and model staff when dealing with more difficult clients.
- Assist in community access goals and interact directly with clients in the community, especially when they are resistant or underperforming.
- Respond to crisis situations during shifts and manage/intervene in staff responses (e.g., QBS protocol).
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with Residential Unit Coordinators, Supervisors, Program Coordinators, and clinicians across disciplines (e.g., Occupational Therapists, Psychotherapists, Speech Therapists, etc.).
- Support clients in community transportation goals (e.g., cab, bus, walking) and help develop their social networks outside Eisenhower Center through pre-teaching, goal setting, and feedback.
- Input Incident Reports for their units, approximately 8-10 hours per week on data entry.
- Handle client incentives and troubleshoot incentive protocol issues.
- Work varied hours, especially during B-shifts and weekends, to ensure campus coverage for crisis management and client behavior support.
Behavior Technician Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Behavior Tech is preferred.
- High attention to detail, with experience in data collection, entry, and analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, communication (both written & verbal), and organizational skills.
