Job summary

NAFI Connecticut is seeking a Behavior Technician for the Tress Rd Group Home in Prospect, CT. The role supports adolescent males with developmental disabilities and co-occurring conditions, providing treatment, assessment, and counseling under clinical supervision.

Responsibilities include client supervision, plan development, and documentation in EHR/HRIS. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a 30-hour weekly schedule Monday through Sunday hours as listed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Nice to have associate or bachelor's degree.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in Social Work, Health Care, Nursing, Human Services or relevant.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and ethical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as key staff member for clients assigned to you, assuring supervision and accountability for them at all times.
  • Be available to fulfill staff vacancies on an as needed basis.
  • Develop treatment or service plans, goals, and provide individual counseling.
  • Counsel clients in independent living, coping, pro-social, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and peer pressure navigation.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to limits.
  • Ensure client safety and adherence to daily schedules that promote goal achievement.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and professional responsibility to the community.
  • Document client activities accurately in EHR and hours in HRIS; use email for updates.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in group sessions when appropriate.

NAFI Connecticut provides programs, consultation, and support services in a variety of settings across Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island. We work with adults, children, and families to increase communication and social skills, improve relationships, increase circles of support, and provide therapeutic services based on best-practice research. NAFI CT is currently seeking a Behavior Technician to join our team at the Tress Rd Group Home in Prospect.

Tress Road is a four-bed, group home that provides treatment for adolescent males (ages 13 to 20) with developmental disabilities, co-occurring psychiatric disorders as well as specialized medical and behavioral needs. The home provides clinical services, and unconditional support in an environment that allows for individualized treatment and permanency planning.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Serve as key staff member for clients assigned to you, assuring supervision and accountability for them at all times
  • Be available to fulfill staff vacancies on an as needed basis
  • Provides and assists with development of treatment and/or service plans, goals, individual counseling to client to discuss interpersonal issues, and treatment issues
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess client skill levels. Counsel clients in the areas of independent living, coping strategies, pro-social, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and navigating peer pressure
  • Maintains professional boundaries
  • Demonstrates the ability to set and adhere to limits
  • Ensures that client safety is priority
  • Ensures that client success is paramount, by implementing an effective daily schedule that creates a culture to inspire clients to achieve goals
  • Demonstrates/role models strong interpersonal skills, pro-social behaviors and professional responsibility to internal and external community
  • Demonstrates Computer literacy, by utilizing an electronic health record to ensure timely, accurate, and well-written documentation of clients’ activities; utilizing a Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to record hours worked and to submit requests for time off; and, utilizing email
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings
  • May participate in and facilitates program group sessions when appropriate
  • Prepares summaries of interactions and objective behavioral observations of clients at the end of each shift
  • Participates in staff training, and maintains certifications as appropriate and required, and demonstrates the ability to pass proficiency test(s), where appropriate
  • Provides safe transportation for clients as necessary
  • Perform crisis prevention and interventions including de-escalation techniques and/or physical management as needed and allowed

Desired Qualifications:

High School Diploma (Required).

Nice to have associate or bachelor's degree.

1–2 years of relevant experience in Social Work, Health Care, Nursing, Human Services or relevant.

Hourly: $22.00 / per hour

Schedule:
  • 30 hours per week: Thursday 2pm - 10pm, Friday 2pm - 10pm, Saturday 8am - 10pm
