This position involves working with students with Autism in a public school setting throughout the school year and summer school program in New Bedford. It is a part-time 20-hour/week opportunity. With one in 36 children diagnosed with autism, this entry-level job is in high demand. As a Behavior Technician at BCI, you’ll help children with autism learn, grow, and develop communication, socialization, and self-help skills through applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy.
We seek candidates with characteristics such as a genuine desire to help children and families, compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, reliability, and a willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and ABA.
Our approach is contemporary ABA, distinguishing it from older, more structured treatments. We offer opportunities for professional growth, with potential promotions within three months and additional perks such as paid time off and sick leave.
Responsibilities include working with children aged 1.5 to 18+ with autism and special needs, in homes or centers. Education requirements include a High School Diploma or GED. Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and availability Monday-Friday during daytime hours are necessary. Starting pay is $23/hr, with potential increases based on experience. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, eligible to work in the U.S., pass a background check, and preferably be bilingual in English/Spanish or have relevant educational or childcare experience.
