Job description

Join to apply for the Behavior Technician role at LEARN Behavioral

Gain rewarding experience with Behavioral Development & Educational Services (BCI) — part of LEARN Behavioral! This role involves working with students with Autism in a public school setting throughout the school year and summer program in New Bedford. This is a part-time, 20-hour/week opportunity.

As a Behavior Technician at BCI, you will help children with autism learn, grow, and develop communication, socialization, and self-help skills through applied behavior analysis (ABA). With the increasing diagnosis rate of autism, this entry-level job is in high demand.

We look for candidates with characteristics such as a genuine desire to help children and families, compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, reliability, and a willingness to learn about autism and ABA.

Working at LEARN, we refer to our approach as contemporary ABA, which is more flexible than traditional methods. We offer opportunities for professional growth, including potential promotions within three months and various perks like paid time off and sick leave.

Responsibilities include:
  • Working with children aged 1.5 to 18+ with autism and special needs, primarily between 2-8 years old, in homes or centers.
Minimum requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Reliable transportation (valid driver’s license and personal vehicle preferred)
  • Availability Monday-Friday during daytime hours (8am - 3pm)
  • Meet minimum age of 18, and be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Pass a background check
Compensation and benefits:
  • Starting pay at $23/hr, with potential increases based on experience
  • Eligibility for RBT certification
  • Up to 15 days of PTO for full-time employees after 90 days; sick leave for part-time
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Studies in psychology, education, childcare, or related fields
  • Experience with children in caregiving roles

Physical requirements may include engaging in activities involving lifting up to 35 pounds and mobility tasks.
