Job summary

I Am Boundless in Ohio is seeking a full-time behavior technician to implement ABA-based behavioral health and educational services for individuals with autism and related conditions in 1:1, 1:2 or small groups. You will receive supervision from behavior analysts through direct observation and team meetings, and you will maintain data collection and treatment records.

The role emphasizes hands-on instruction, crisis interventions, collaboration with families and professionals, and compliance

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 3+ years in behavioral health, human services, or mental health field.
  • Preferred college degree in education, psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction and assessments based on training and supervisor feedback.
  • Implement skills acquisition and behavior modification plans from training.
  • Provide intensive behavioral health services addressing skills development, problem solving, coping and independence.
  • Perform crisis interventions as needed and approved.
  • Collect and analyze data following Boundless procedures.
  • Maintain and organize teaching materials and clean instructional areas.
  • Maintain data collection methods and progress notes for treatment plans.

Job description

Summary/Objective

Primary job responsibility is toimplementbehavioral health and educational services using the principles ofApplied Behavior Analysiswithindividuals diagnosedwith autism, related mental health disorders and/orintellectual disabilitiesin either a 1:1, 1:2 or small groupsetting.Receive supervisionand trainingfrombehavior analytic and/orbehavioralhealthsupervisors throughdirectobservationand team meetings.This is afull-time,hourlyposition.

  • Deliverinstructionand assessmentsfollowing procedures learned frominitialand ongoing training sessions and based on feedback given from supervisors.
  • Implement skills acquisition and behaviormodificationplansas provided duringinitialtraining and from ongoing training and feedback from supervisors.
  • Implement behavioral health treatment byprovidingintensive services based off the individual’sbehavioralhealth needs including, but not limitedto:skills development, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotions/behavior management, developing positive coping mechanisms, and managing symptoms to enhance vocations/school opportunities and/or independent living.
  • Implement crisis interventions as needed and when approved.
  • Collect and analyze data and records of service accurately followingBoundlessprocedures.
  • Organize, prepare teaching and treatmentmaterialsandmaintainclean instructionalarea.
  • Maintain designatedindividual’s data collection methods, documents,recordsand materials related to treatment and educational plans.Assistin monitoring goal progression.Identifiesanddocumentwhen interventions are needed for specific goals due to lack of progression.
  • Assistinmaintainingfiles for compliancein accordance withapplicable local,stateand federal standards; report unusual incidents and communicate unusual medical situations asrequired.
  • Perform first aid as trained and designated.
  • Complete treatment andeducation review for designatedindividualas assigned.
  • Attend andparticipatein all treatment and educational team meetings, program meetings andStaff Development Days.
  • Seek,receiveand apply feedback appropriatelyandprofessionally,and work towards goals developedwithsupervisors.
  • Communicate byboth hearing and speakingin a professional manner with coworkers, outside professionals,and parents,and use professional language when describing theindividualand/or behaviors.
  • Dressappropriately and arrive on time for work.
  • Participate in fundraising activities through distribution of materials and information.
  • Responsible for reading and followingthe employee handbook andallBoundlesspoliciesand procedures.
  • Responsible forcompleting andfollowing alltrainingsassigned.
  • Within60 daysof hire, successful completion of the required physical crisis management training(s) and certification(s) applicable to the assigned program.
  • May occasionally transport clients in Boundless vehicle.
  • All other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent,plus3 years ormoreyears ofexperience in thebehavioralhealth, human services, or mental health field.
  • PreferredCollege Degreeineducation, psychology, social work, or arelated field.
  • Ability to obtain andmaintainFirst Aid, CPR - adult,childand infant(training will beprovidedif not already certified)
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to two (1-2) years of experience working directly with children and families.
  • Experience working with people with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working with people with behavioral health conditions.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance.
  • No more than 5 points on license.

  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with individuals, staff, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and at times hostile clients/family members.
  • Mustpossessthe ability to make independent decisions when circumstanceswarrantsuch action.
Physical Demands
  • Ability tomaintainphysicalexertion for multiple events across a shift that could last up to45minutes per episode.
  • Ability tomaintaina kneelingand/or crouchingpositionfor multiple events across a shift that could last up to45minutes per episode.
  • Ability to stand forthe majority ofthe shift.
  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Ability to see and quickly respond to dangerous situations.
  • Ability to wear personal protective and safety gear correctly forthe majority ofthe shift.
  • Abilityto lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Abilityto assume andmaintaina variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing)for extended periods of time across the shiftalong with the ability to walk swiftly or run after consumers on a shift.
  • Abilityto sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport individuals as needed.
  • Ability toutilizequick body movements when working with individuals with challenging behavior.
  • Ability to remain awake for the entire assigned shift.
Skills,Knowledgeand Abilities
  • Ability to completetrainingsand apply knowledge to work with individuals served.
  • Ability to perform emergency medical procedures when necessary.
  • Requirement to lift/bend/push/pull/stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl regularly when implementing crisis interventions.
  • Ability to accurately document required therapy data.
  • Operate and conduct selfin a professional mannerat all times.
  • Ability to hear and speak spoken language in communication with individuals served, other staff, family members of individuals, and members of thegeneral public.
  • Ability to accept and implement feedback and constructive criticism in teaching, overall job operations.
