Job summary

I Am Boundless in Akron, Ohio is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Provider to implement services using Applied Behavior Analysis for individuals with autism and related conditions. The role includes delivering instruction, implementing treatment plans, and maintaining accurate records.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma and experience in behavioral health. You’ll participate in team meetings and adhere to safety protocols while providing care in various settings, including community and office environments. Training will be provided.

Job description

Summary / Objective

Primary job responsibility is to implement behavioral health and educational services using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis with individuals diagnosed with autism, related mental health disorders and/or intellectual disabilities in either a 1:1, 1:2, or small group setting. Supervision and training are provided by behavior analytic and/or behavioral health supervisors through direct observation and team meetings. This is a full‑time, hourly position.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver instruction and assessments following procedures learned from initial and ongoing training sessions and based on feedback given from supervisors.
  • Implement skills acquisition and behavior modification plans provided during initial training and from ongoing training and feedback from supervisors.
  • Implement behavioral health treatment by providing intensive services based on the individual’s behavioral health needs, including skills development, problem solving, conflict resolution, emotion/behavior management, development of positive coping mechanisms, and symptom management to enhance vocational or school opportunities and/or independent living.
  • Implement crisis interventions as needed and when approved.
  • Collect and analyze data and records of service accurately following Boundless procedures.
  • Organize, prepare teaching and treatment materials and maintain a clean instructional area.
  • Maintain individual’s data collection methods, documents, records and materials related to treatment and educational plans. Assist in monitoring goal progression and identify and document when interventions are needed for specific goals due to lack of progression.
  • Assist in maintaining files for compliance with applicable local, state, and federal standards; report unusual incidents and communicate unusual medical situations as required.
  • Perform first aid as trained and designated.
  • Complete treatment and education review for designated individual as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in all treatment and educational team meetings, program meetings and Staff Development Days.
  • Seek, receive and apply feedback appropriately and professionally, and work towards goals developed with supervisors.
  • Communicate both hearing and speaking in a professional manner with coworkers, outside professionals, and parents, and use professional language when describing the individual and/or behaviors.
  • Dress appropriately and arrive on time for work.
  • Participate in fundraising activities through distribution of materials and information.
  • Read and follow the employee handbook and all Boundless policies and procedures.
  • Complete and follow all trainings assigned.
  • Within 60 days of hire, successfully complete the required physical crisis management training(s) and certification(s) applicable to the assigned program.
  • May occasionally transport clients in Boundless vehicle.
  • Perform all other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years or more years of experience in the behavioral health, human services, or mental health field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR – adult, child and infant (training will be provided if not already certified).
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • One to two (1‑2) years of experience working directly with children and families.
  • Experience working with people with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
  • Experience working with people with behavioral health conditions.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance.
  • No more than 5 points on license.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with individuals, staff, and support agencies.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and at times hostile clients/family members.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Work Settings

This job regularly works in the center or assigned treatment program and may also work in the community, providing services outside of the office, in schools, client homes, and other community settings. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands
  • Maintain physical exertion for multiple events across a shift that could last up to 45 minutes per episode.
  • Maintain kneeling and/or crouching position for multiple events across a shift that could last up to 45 minutes per episode.
  • Stand for the majority of the shift.
  • Respond quickly to sounds.
  • See and quickly respond to dangerous situations.
  • Wear personal protective and safety gear correctly for the majority of the shift.
  • Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time across the shift along with the ability to walk swiftly or run after consumers on a shift.
  • Sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Willing and able to restrain/hold/transport individuals as needed.
  • Utilize quick body movements when working with individuals with challenging behavior.
  • Remain awake for the entire assigned shift.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Complete trainings and apply knowledge to work with individuals served.
  • Perform emergency medical procedures when necessary.
  • Lift, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl regularly when implementing crisis interventions.
  • Accurately document required therapy data.
  • Operate and conduct self in a professional manner at all times.
  • Hear and speak spoken language in communication with individuals served, other staff, family members of individuals, and members of the general public.
  • Accept and implement feedback and constructive criticism in teaching and overall job operations.
