Job summary

Simply Innovative Therapies seeks Behavior Technicians to provide after-school, in-home ABA services on Long Island. BTs work with learners under supervision of a BCBA or CBAA to implement individualized treatment plans and support functional skills across communication, social interaction, daily living, independence, and behavior regulation.

Responsibilities include data collection, progress documentation, and collaboration with caregivers and the treatment team.

Qualifications

  • RBT certification preferred (WE CAN HELP CERTIFY)

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols; proficient in data collection

Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking Behavior Technicians (BTs) to provide after-school, in-home ABA services to children and adolescents throughout Long Island. Behavior Technicians work directly with learners to implement individualized treatment plans under the ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Certified Behavior Analyst Assistant (CBAA).

BTs support learners in developing functional skills in areas such as communication, social interaction, daily living, independence, and behavior regulation. Responsibilities include implementing skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction programs, collecting accurate data, and documenting learner progress.

Previous ABA experience is preferred but not required. For qualified candidates who are new to the field, we provide training and support to help you develop the skills needed to succeed in the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement Treatment Plans: Follow individualized treatment protocols, behavior intervention plans, and skill-acquisition programs developed and overseen by a BCBA or CBAA.
  • Provide Direct ABA Services: Work one-on-one with learners in their homes during after-school and evening hours to increase functional skills and reduce behaviors that interfere with learning and independence.
  • Skill Acquisition: Implement evidence-based teaching strategies, including Natural Environment Teaching (NET), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), prompting and prompt fading, reinforcement, and other individualized teaching procedures.
  • Behavior Support: Implement prescribed antecedent strategies, replacement-skill programs, reinforcement procedures, and behavior-reduction protocols consistently and safely.
  • Data Collection: Accurately collect and record data on learner performance, skill acquisition, and target behaviors in accordance with the treatment plan.
  • Documentation: Complete session notes, progress documentation, incident reports, and other required records accurately and within established timelines.
  • Supervision and Training: Participate in ongoing supervision, training, modeling, and performance feedback provided by a BCBA or CBAA.
  • Caregiver and Team Communication: Maintain professional communication with supervisors, caregivers, and other members of the learner's treatment team while remaining within the BT scope of practice.
  • Generalization: Support learners in using acquired skills across people, activities, routines, and natural home and community environments.
  • Professional and Ethical Conduct: Maintain learner dignity, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards while following all agency policies and applicable professional requirements.
Qualifications
  • Certification: A current RBT certification is preferred for the job. (WE CAN HELP CERTIFY)
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavior challenges is preferred, but not required.
  • Background: Able to pass a background check
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills. Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols. Proficient in data collection and basic computer skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping individuals improve their quality of life.
