Job summary

Wisconsin Early Autism Project (WEAP), part of LEARN Behavioral, is seeking an entry-level Behavior Technician to help children with autism develop communication, social, and self-help skills through ABA therapy in homes or daycares. The role offers part- or full-time schedules and a starting pay of $16 per hour.

You will work with children aged 18 months to 6 years, require a flexible weekly schedule, and have opportunities for growth and advancement within ABA and related fields.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18 on or before first day of employment.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Availability for a consistent weekly schedule.
  • Preferred: bilingual English/Spanish; background in psychology, education, special education, childcare, behavioral health, health science, or related field.
  • Prior experience working with children (e.g., babysitter, nanny, tutor, teacher, coach, camp counselor).
  • Physical ability to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds and to sit, stoop, stand, walk, and run as required by client assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ABA-based services to children aged 18 months to 6 years with autism in their homes or daycares.
  • Adhere to a consistent weekly schedule, including mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings.
  • Maintain reliable transportation for daily access to client sites.
  • Work part-time (10–29 hours per week) or full-time as required.
  • Earn a starting pay of $16 per hour, with potential increases based on ABA experience or training.
  • Receive training and support to build a career in behavior analysis, behavioral health, teaching, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, counseling, mental health, and parenting.
  • Create lasting, positive change for children and their families.

With one in 36 children diagnosed with autism, this entry‑level job is in big demand. As a Behavior Technician at WEAP, you’ll help children with autism learn, grow, and build communication, socialization, and self‑help skills through play‑based therapy known as applied behavior analysis (ABA).

For over 25 years, WEAP has provided evidence‑based, contemporary ABA therapy to help children with autism find success.

Working as a Behavior Technician requires the following characteristics:

  • A genuine desire to help children with autism and their families reach their goals.
  • A steady supply of compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
  • A willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and ABA.

At WEAP, you can advance quickly: once you master ABA fundamentals, promotion is possible within three months, and numerous professional development opportunities are available.
