Glenwood is currently seeking enthusiastic candidates for the position of Behavior Teacher Assistant at our Avondale based kindergarten classroom, which serves children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As part of a collaborative team that includes Special Educators, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts, and Speech and Occupational Therapists, this role offers a unique opportunity to work in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities Include

• Implement specialized education programs and individualized lessons for young students with ASD.
• Assist with classroom management.
• Implement Behavior Support Plans and other ABA-based programs interventions to promote positive behavior and learning outcomes.
• Provide Crisis Intervention, effectively responding to aggressive or self-injurious behaviors in accordance with established protocols.
• Collect and maintain accurate student data to track both academic and behavioral progress.
• Assist students with daily living skills and personal hygiene, ensuring their well-being and fostering independence.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to communicate, collaborate, and work harmoniously with teachers and therapists to ensure the best support for the students.
• Ability to keep data collection current and organized.
• Ability to keep up with the physical demands of a classroom, including lifting, bending, stooping, and other physical activities.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and provide a steady positive presence for children.
• Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements.
• Medication Administration as required by state/program requirements.
• 18 years of age or older
• High school degree/GED equivalent required. Associates degree, BS/BA in Human Services field, preferred.
• Must be cleared through the Dept. of Human Resources Child Abuse & Neglect Registry as well as the ABI/FBI and pass all required pre-employment and background screening.
• Must maintain or be eligible for certification in agency-provided trainings, including CPR, First Aid, Managing Crisis Safely, and Medication Administration
