We are looking for compassionate, caring, and dependable individuals to join our team and provide support to the individuals we support as a Behavioral Support Professional (BSS).

What You’ll Do:

As a Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS), you will work directly with individuals with developmental disabilities who may exhibit a variety of challenging behaviors. Your role is to provide support both in the home and within the community, helping individuals achieve their personal goals and lead meaningful, fulfilling lives.

Responsibilities include assisting with basic housekeeping tasks, providing transportation to appointments and community activities, promoting independence, and ensuring the health and safety of those you support. Because this position involves working in individuals' homes and representing the organization in the community, a high level of professionalism, reliability, and respect is essential at all times.

  • Responsible for creating a safe, positive, and encouraging atmosphere for the people we support
  • Transporting to and from day program and community outings- must have reliable transportation. Mileage reimbursement!
  • Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include:
  • Supporting personal goals
  • Teaching daily skills such as household chores, laundry, cleaning, dishes, etc., and preparing nutritional meals based on needs and preferences
  • Planning Assisting with activities of daily living, such as, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, etc.
  • Ensuring groceries, personal care items, and other needed supplies are in stock
  • Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy
  • Administering medications and other medical treatment as delegated by an HOH nurse
  • Maintaining knowledge of each person’s specialized needs
  • Ensure each individuals’ rights are protected and they are treated with dignity and respect
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner, including but not limited to individual plan data, behavior plan data, community integration logs, assessments, individual funds requests, mileage logs, maintenance requests forms, and supply acquisition forms
  • Keep residence – both interior and exterior – and resident personal space clean, organized, and tidy
  • Complete all other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clear driving record
  • Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance
  • Ability to pass all registry and background checks
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Prefer one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities with behavioral challenges or caring for a person in a healthcare setting although no experience is necessary as we will train you!

  • Looking for someone to work part time hours with potential for full time hours eventually

  • We pay more for direct care experience and if you hold an active CNA license. CNAs earn CEUs while working as a DSP (thanks to the Nebraska CNA bill we helped champion!)
