Job summary

Spectrum Center Schools and Programs in California hires a Behavior Specialist to support our award-winning Special Education team. You will help implement the school-wide positive behavior support program, guide classroom practice, and focus on proactive strategies to raise student engagement and reduce crises.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with basic skills test.
• Associate's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
• RBT credential preferred or in progress.
• CA driver’s license required or ability to obtain.
• Crisis management training certification preferred.
• Experience with behavioral instruction for children in special education or behavioral health settings.
• Knowledge of ABA, FBA, PBIS and BIP concepts.

Responsibilities

• Guide school-wide classroom implementation of the Positive Behavior Support program.
• Increase positive student behaviors through proactive strategies.
• Respond to crisis situations with de-escalation techniques.
• Document interventions in students’ Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) as applicable.
• Collaborate with staff to support exceptional learners and adapt to changing priorities.
