Job summary

IEP Therapy, a Point Quest partner, seeks a Behavior Specialist for school-based work in Wayne, MI. This full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year offers $25-$30 per hour.

You will support educational teams, model positive behavior, and collaborate with families and staff to promote students’ growth and success. Benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Teaching experience with students with diverse learning, emotional, or cognitive needs.
  • Background check ( DOJ/FBI or state/national clearance ).

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation to educational teams to teach and model socially acceptable behavior.
  • Support educational teams to establish and enforce behavior rules and program procedures.
  • Apply a problem-solving process to determine district-approved interventions.
  • Collaborate with parents, administrators, and staff to develop alternative educational plans.
  • Provide feedback and corrective strategies after interventions.
  • Observe and analyze data of students' behavior in collaboration with the team.

Behavior Specialist Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation to educational teams to teach and model socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
  • Support educational teams in order to establish and enforce rules for behavior and policies and procedures to maintain order among students that align with the program guidelines.
  • Employ a problem-solving process to determine a course of intervention as prescribed by the district’s tiered behavior interventions.
  • Confer with parents, administrators, and educational team members to develop alternative educational plans designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social/emotional development.
  • Provide feedback and corrective strategies to educational teams as follow-up to applied interventions.
  • Observe, evaluate, collect and analyze data of students’ behavioral performance in collaboration with the educational team.
Behavior Specialist Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Teaching experience with students with a variety of learning, emotional, or cognitive disabilities.
  • Background Check: Department of Justice/FBI Background Check (or equivalent state or national fingerprint clearance).
  • TB Clearance Eligibility to Work: Eligibility to work in the US Application Materials: Upload a copy of your transcript and credential with your application.
Behavior Specialist Physical Demands
  • Environment: Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes.
  • Activity: Frequent engagement in tasks such as reaching, handling, standing, walking, and lifting items up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Sensory: Ability to perform essential job functions with or without assistive devices or accommodations, including working in moderate to high noise levels.
