Job summary

Highlands School District is seeking a Behavior Specialist for the secondary level to develop and maintain individual student goals for social and behavioral skills. You will design, implement, and evaluate behavior management strategies in partnership with teachers and the Student Support staff.

The role requires PA K-12 certification, a PA Behavioral Specialist License, a Master’s degree, and at least three years of clinical or mental health experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field such as School, Clinical, Developmental or Counseling Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Speech Therapy or related areas.
• PA K-12 teaching certification or credential is required.
• PA Behavioral Specialist License is required.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical or mental health experience.
• Ability to design, implement and evaluate behavior management strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain individual student goals for social and behavioral skills.

• Participate in Crisis Management Team and on-call for crises within the school.

BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST - Secondary Level

Job Summary:

To develop and maintain individual student goals for social and behavioral skills

Essential Functions:

• Provides educational resources, training and technical assistance in the design, implementation and evaluation of behavior management systems, as directed, following Standards of Best Practice and district policies
• Maintains understanding of de-escalation and conflict mediation
• Consults with teachers and Student Support staff to provide behavioral interventions to promote success
• Participates as a member of the Crisis Management Team, maintaining on-call status for crisis within the school
• Assists with development and implementation of therapeutic and behavior interventions outlined in Individual Behavior Plans
• Coordinates social skills groups and individual sessions, bully prevention activities and teaching of replacement behaviors
• Coordinates behavioral interventions in conjunction with IEP's to include student's care giver
• Attends IEP meetings, inter-agency meetings with provider and court hearings when applicable
• Assists with Functional Behavior Assessments and data collection
• Attends annual trainings to further skills in behavior modification and support
• Maintains availability for class coverage as needed to support student success
• Performs in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, state and federal laws
• Performs other duties as assigned
