SCHEDULE: Hourly Hours may vary based on program needs SALARY: $26.00/hr-$32.00/hr (dependent on qualifications and experience) QUALIFICATIONS: Required Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field OR AA degree and equivalent work experience Experience working with students with challenging emotional/behavioral needs and at-risk students with academic, social and behavioral concerns Preferred Significant, extensive experience working with students receiving Special Education Services POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the building supervisor, the Behavior Resource Specialist serves to enhance the instruction provided by the teacher, case manager or related service staff to supplement instructional activities or to provide extended practice. This can include providing guided practice, cues, behavior plan implementation support, data collection and response for students around their identified Behavior Support Plans and IEP goals. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Ability to work with students with challenging emotional/behavioral needs and academic and social concerns Ability to understand the developmental and psychological links to the emotional and behavioral needs of students Ability to form strong and positive relationships with students and staff to support students in the development of self-regulation skills and in their overall social, emotional and academic growth Ability to foster independence, self-esteem and self-confidence in students Knowledge of behavior management and de-escalation techniques Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to exhibit emotional control, patience and persistence in extremely stressful situations Skill at maintaining acceptable tolerance levels for appropriate student behaviors Ability to observe, chart and specifically describe student behaviors Ability to work collaboratively as a team member and school resource ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Responds, as needed, to the behavior resource room to provide positive behavioral/emotional interventions and supports for students Develops, coordinates and implements positive interventions for identified students including daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and yearly goals and activities Re-teaches social skills and affective curriculum within the resource rooms and classroom settings and provides individual behavior therapy to students as required Assists administrators with parent communication as requested and provides parent information and education relating to the positive behavior support program of the school Works with program and district administration in the development and implementation of a robust program of positive and proactive behavior strategies and supports for the school community Works collaboratively with instructional staff to increase academic success for students with challenging behaviors and to decrease challenging student behavior in classrooms Conducts classroom observations and data collection to support behavior analysis and interventions with identified students as requested Serves as a member of the site MTSS team Assists in classrooms to meet individual and group needs as requested by instructional staff Collects, reports and summarizes behavioral data Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, bending, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing BENEFITS: We offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week.
