Job summary

Hancock County School District in Kiln, MS seeks a Teacher - Behavior Modification to support student development and classroom learning. You will plan lessons, manage behavior, and assess progress in alignment with state requirements.

The ideal candidate holds a valid teaching license with 120 Elem. Ed. K-6 endorsement or equivalent, and a Bachelor's degree or higher. Reports to the Site Principal; supervises designated staff; performs duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs the assigned class at designated times and locations.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives.
  • Employs varied instructional techniques and media appropriate for the students.
  • Implements district philosophy and instructional goals in practice.
  • Assesses student progress regularly and provides progress reports as required.
  • Supports students with learning disabilities with district specialists as needed.
  • Maintains safety for students, equipment, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Job description

Title: Teacher - Behavior Modification

MDE Code (pre-K through 12th grade) any certified employee employed with the school district. She/He should be properly endorsed in the specific area of instruction according to the assignment of employment. MDE Course Code should match the teaching area.

Job Goal

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Meets and instructs assigned class in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study, that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisor.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Helps students with learning disabilities on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of the district specialists as required by policy and law.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the supervisor may from time to time assign.
