Job summary

Job description

Behavior Management Specialist

POSITION PURPOSE: Provide therapeutic interventions to foster students' social-emotional and cognitive-behavioral development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Advocate for students' social-emotional and cognitive-behavioral skills development.
  • Provide individual and group sessions that teach and roleplay social, emotional, and behavioral skills to students identified through the MTSS Process.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and key stakeholders to develop and implement behavior intervention plans and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Document in the appropriate electronic system on students' behavior, interventions, and ongoing interactions with students.
  • Participate in team meetings and staffing for students including MTSS and IEP meetings as needed.
  • Use Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques with students during intense episodes or outbursts.
  • Participate in professional development sessions including attending conferences and taking specialized courses.
  • Review specific program curriculums, evidence-based strategies, and teaching behavior skills related to job responsibilities.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the policies of the Board of Education.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and District policies.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, and district-identified database program applications.
  • Experience working with school-age children.
