The Access Center Associate gathers, summarizes and prioritizes client information for individuals being referred for admission and hospital outpatient services. Responsibilities include presenting case information to clinical, psychiatric and nursing staff; scheduling evaluations and admissions; fielding crisis calls and providing emergency interventions when needed; providing information to the public about Acadia programs and other community resources. The role maintains an accurate census of patients in Acadia programs and coordinates bed management functions. It documents data for processes and programs and distributes reports related to findings. After-hours backup is provided to multiple Acadia departments including Registration, Utilization Management, Facilities, Ambulatory Clinic Scheduling and the Narcotic Treatment Program. The role assists in coordinating involuntary processes for inpatient admissions and PTP applications for patients requiring court-ordered medication management. The position requires adherence to process and procedures, adaptability to change, and an understanding of the department as the central hub of workflow within the hospital. The work environment is active and may involve emotionally charged and confidential information; it requires problem solving in a dynamic setting. The work setting includes office, hospital, and outpatient clinic environments with interactions with patients, family members, and staff. Equipment used includes computers, fax machines, telephones, security equipment, alarm systems, photocopiers, and ITV equipment. Performs duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
