Job summary

Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) seeks a BCBA to join our Behavior Services team in Hamden, CT. This full-time, day-shift position requires a 4-year degree and current BCBA certification with CT licensure.

You will conduct comprehensive behavior analytic assessments, observations, and data-driven reporting; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and evaluate programs; and maintain compliance with Safety and instructional standards. Up to 25% travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Current BCBA certification and CT Behavior Analyst licensure.
  • Must hold BCBA and CT LBA within 6 months of employment.
  • Complete all components of ACES Systematic Safety Intervention Training (ASSIST) within one year of hire date.

Overview

Area Cooperative Educational Services (ACES) exists to improve public education through high quality, cost effective programs and services. We are the Regional Educational Service Center (RESC) for the twenty-five school districts in south central Connecticut. Over 40 states operate Educational Service Agencies because of the financial benefits that are obtained through regional collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Assessment
    • Conduct formal behavior analytic assessments including functional, skill‑based, ecological, and preference assessments.
    • Conduct observations of students.
    • Conduct observations of staff.
    • Conduct procedural fidelity checks for ongoing programs.
    • Conduct reliability checks on data being collected.
    • Analyze and report behavioral and instructional data.
    • Prepare and disseminate assessment reports.
    • Review student issues collaboratively with relevant team members.
  • Instruction
    • Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team in the development, implementation, and assessment of programmatic activities (academic and behavioral).
  • General
    • Set up and monitor data management systems.
    • Display data in graphs.
    • Create student and staff schedules.
    • Lead student casings.
    • Complete student updates.
    • Present information in PPT meetings.
    • Supervise and evaluate BSAP staff.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Communication
    • Complete all forms, reports, and paperwork in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
    • Communicate relevant behavior/instructional information to the team on an ongoing basis.
    • Communicate professionally with peers and leadership staff.
    • Communicate professionally with outside agencies and parent/guardians.
    • Participate in staff/student meetings.
    • Attend/participate in parent meetings.
  • Knowledge
    • Know, understand, and comply with ACES policies and procedures.
    • Know, understand, and comply with Clinical Services.
    • Know, understand, and comply with building/program policies and procedures.
    • Know, understand, and comply with safety management procedures.
    • Know, understand, and comply with all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
    • When relevant for RBT registration, BCBA certification, or supervision thereof, comply with all regulations and guidelines of the BACB.
    • Demonstrate understanding for all concepts presented through the ACES Behavior Services and Autism Programs Training Series.
    • Know, understand, and comply with all relevant individual behavior management programs in operation.
    • Fluently discuss and apply pedagogic strategies based in Applied Behavior Analysis.
    • Fluently discuss and apply applied behavior analytic concepts, principles, and methodologies.
    • Fluently discuss advanced behavior analytic concepts and methodologies.
    • Continue professional growth through ongoing trainings, discussions and other learning opportunities presented.
    • Seek out additional training and professional development opportunities.
  • Training
    • Participate in assigned training and staff development opportunities.
    • Provide training and feedback regarding instructional and behavioral skills.
    • Develop and conduct formal presentations and workshops.
Qualifications
  • Current BCBA certification and CT Behavior Analyst licensure.
  • Has met all requirements for eligibility to apply for / take BCBA exam (must hold BCBA and CT LBA within 6 months of employment).
  • Obtain BACB recognition for meeting the Standards for Supervision Requirements to supervise RBTs and BCBA exam candidates within one year of hire date.
  • Complete all components of ACES Systematic Safety Intervention Strategy Training (ASSIST) within one year of hire date.
