Job summary

Boston Public Schools is seeking a Before-School Class Facilitator for King Elementary in Boston, MA. The role runs 7:30–8:30 a.m. before the school day begins, supervising students in a welcoming, inclusive setting.

The successful candidate will provide developmentally appropriate enrichment, promote health and safety, and collaborate with staff and families to support diverse learners. Requires HS diploma, 2 years of relevant experience, and US work authorization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Nine (9) + credit hours of college coursework in early childhood education or related field, or forty-eight (48) credit hours of college coursework or an Associate’s Degree, or a passing score on one of the following formalized standardized assessments: ParaPro Assessment; or ACT WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with school-age children in an afterschool, summer, educational, recreation, or youth development setting.
• Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide active supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of students during all program activities, from arrival through transitions to class.
• Implements developmentally appropriate enrichment activities.
• Promotes children's health, safety, and personal hygiene (including diapering when necessary).
• Supports the successful participation of all children, including children with disabilities and diverse developmental and learning needs.
• Adheres to Boston Public Schools policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
• Maintains a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment conducive to children's development.
• Collaborates with school staff and families to support children's needs.
• Participates in required orientation, staff meetings, and training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
