Job summary

YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City is seeking part-time Jr. Program staff to supervise a safe child care program and plan engaging activities for groups of children. Morning and afternoon shifts are available, with duties including leading activities, ensuring safety, and maintaining attendance.

Applicants must be 16–17 for Jr. staff, or 18+ with a high school diploma/GED, and hold CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Training, meal/snack duties, and adherence to YMCA guidelines are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising a safe child care program and plan activities.
• Lead games and activities from the program curriculum.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children and take daily attendance.
• Prepare snacks/meals and document injuries or incidents as required.
• Attend trainings and meetings; uphold YMCA values at all times.

Morning and Afternoon shifts are available, but both are not required to hired for this position.

• Morning shifts: 6:45-9am and 7:30-9:15am (Monday - Friday)


• Afternoon Shifts: 2:30-6pm, 3-6pm, and 3:30-6pm (Monday - Friday)

Position Description

Assist with supervising a safe and well-organized child care program by planning and participating in-group activities with children at a designated childcare site.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Establish a positive relationship with the program participants.


• Implement weekly activities for a group of 10-15 children.


• Lead games and activities provided through program curriculum.


• Ensure the safety and well being of all children.


• Know where all group members are at all times.


• Take daily attendance and see that each child is signed in and out by a responsible party each day.


• Actively engage children and participants in activities.


• Prepare and distribute USDA and HEPA approved snacks and/or meals to participants.


• Perform daily count of meals and snacks served.


• Report all injuries and incidences to the site coordinator and/or program director.


• Attend regularly scheduled staff meeting to help plan activities, and attend required in-person and online trainings.


• Display YMCA character values (Honesty, caring, respect, and responsibilities at all times.)


• Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors and volunteers.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must stay current in CPR/AED/O2 and First Aid, renewed annually. (Training provided by the Y, if needed)


• Must have an interest in and like children and exemplify and support the YMCA philosophy.


• Must complete all required Redwoods trainings within 30 days of hire and renew annually.


• Must be 18 years of age, have high school diploma or GED.


• Jr. Program staff may be 16-17 yrs of age.


• Job consists of working with school age children and requires the participation in activities with children.


• Position may require work outside the regularly scheduled program hours.


• Must attend all scheduled YMCA trainings, have current CPR certification and uphold the YMCA employee appearance guidelines.

Salary Description

• $11.00 per hour
